Rotor–Stator Assembly/Disassembly Tool for Inrunner Actuators

2024

At IIT, I designed and built a precision mechanical device for the safe mounting and unmounting of the rotor and stator in internally developed inrunner actuators. Because of the strong magnetic forces involved, manual assembly is difficult and can easily lead to misalignment, sudden contact, or damage to critical components.

To solve this, I developed a dedicated assembly tool that enables controlled insertion and extraction while maintaining accurate centering and alignment throughout the process. The design focused on achieving the required tolerances, repeatability, and mechanical stability to ensure safe handling of the actuator components during assembly operations.

This project demonstrates my ability to identify a practical engineering problem, translate functional requirements into a robust mechanical design, and deliver a precise, hands-on solution for a challenging mechatronic system.
